talking color talking pattern(Lisa Liang)
During this session, we went to soho and observed the humanistic features of London as we walked. I discovered graffiti hidden in the alleys, elaborately designed clothes in the shop Windows, and magazines filled in the small shops. I also went into the horniman museum and garden to immerse myself in nature, to observe the trunks and textures of various plants, to touch small animals and observe the texture of their fur and the texture of their horns. No matter where I go, when I walk on the road, I always observe nature. I find that the world needs nature. Places without nature seem very desolate. But once a place is filled with plants and animals, everything seems very warm and full of vitality. At the very beginning, I just copied what I saw. Later on, I would use more materials and more different ways to express the nature I saw.

I really like Lisa’s work. Her creations make me strongly feel that she is someone who genuinely lives in the world with attention and care. I also noticed something interesting: she really loves small animals. Many of her artworks are centered on animals, and just like she said, these animals give her a sense of life and energy. I can clearly feel this gentle and warm feeling when I look at her work.
I think her collage is especially beautiful, filled with many interesting elements. In it, I can see how she carefully observes details when walking in London: the graffiti on the walls, the fruit stands on the street, the Chinese restaurants that carry a sense of home, or people taking photos on the road. I also noticed the poster in the lower left corner of the collage. I think it has a strong emotional meaning, which suggests that she has a firm and powerful inner strength.
At the same time, I can see that she uses different drawing methods to express the textures and surfaces of the animals. When I look at the animals she draws, I can almost imagine the soft, furry feeling. Her way of capturing touch and form is very delicate.
In the Talking Pattern part, her works show a more developed visual language. She repeats simple shapes and arranges them with rhythm, but also adds small variations, so the patterns do not look flat. Her use of colour feels natural and balanced, lively but also harmonious. I think her patterns already look suitable for prints or a small exhibition, showing her intuition and talent in pattern design.
