Talking pattern

Reflection:

To explore pattern I was inspired by some flowers. I focused on the finer details, including the marks on the petals, shape and the stigma. I used varied mediums including: markers, watercolours , fine-liner pens and an iPad. I analysed their shapes as well as the vase that held them. The patterns that stand out to me are those of the stigma- A subject I do not usually think of when illustrating flowers. Their smooth shapes led me to choose markers which I believe worked effectively. Finding different ways to repeat my design as a pattern was enjoyable and it made me wonder how it could eventually translate to a knit. To improve these, I would use three-dimensional materials to best show how the light reflects onto the vase.
